Xopenex is a newer cleaner albuterol with less sympathetic side effects. That is it seems to allow for maximal bronchodilation with less of the jittery side effects such as heart palpitations and tremor. If patients do not have problems with Albuterol they should probably stick with it. It is probably just as effective and is much less expensive.
