Chemicals and Irritants

Chemicals, perfumes, glues, new carpets, new buildings, cigarette smoke, laundry detergent, and pool chlorine all evoke sinonasal inflammation. The mechanism seems to be mediated through non IgE pathways. Our threshold of irritability seem to be linked to our overall allergic load. These problems seem to improve when our overall alleric load is reduced or desensitized. There are also other controversial methods to treat chemical sensitivities.
